PRE-TECH

Here are a few things that will help you get through Pre-Tech without having to push your kart back to the trailer and then have another long wait in line

1. Have all four tires and engine on the kart so seat and other heights can be checked.
2. Have all Steering bolts
cotter keyed or safety wired (no double nuts allowed).
3. All bolts and nuts and roll pins that hold the master cylinder and brake caliper on must be
cotter keyed or safety wired. The bolts and nuts that hold the brake disk on need to be either cotter keyed or have steel locking nuts used (no double nuts allowed to be used anywhere on the brakes).
4. Have all add on weights that are used
cotter keyed, safety wired or double-nutted and a 5/16" bolt is used to attach it to the kart. Also no weights can be attached to the nerf bars or rear bumper and if mounted on front bumper with no nose cone the weights are turned to the inside. Oil catch cans cannot be on the rear bumper.
5.The nose on the Sportsman (8-12 years old) classes cannot be higher than
14" from the ground.
6. Make sure your seat is the right height from the ground to the center of the back of the seat
10" for Sportsman classes (8 to 12 years old), 12" for the Junior classes (12 to 15 years old) and 14" for all Senior classes these are minimum measurements. Also make sure your seat meets the angle requirements. The seat cannot be past the rear of the back axle and should not have any large holes cut into it.
7. Have the front spindle nuts
cotter keyed.
8. The ends of the rear axle should be
safety wired, cotter keyed or have a circle clips on them.
9. The steering fairing if used needs to be
3" away from the steering wheel and of the correct size (refer to the Tech Manual to see size).
10. If full side panels are used they can be no more than
14" from the ground measured at the back of the front tire.
11. Make sure nothing is past the rear bumper on the kart. (muffler etc.)
12. Any wheel/tire that is tucked inside of the side panels can be no more that
1" inside of the panel, or no more that 1/2 the width of the tire on the outside of it.
13. Bring your helmet with you (Snell SA95, SA2000, M95, M2000 or K98 are the only ones legal).
14. One end of the nerf bar on each side of the kart needs to be secured to the kart with a
1/4 inch bolt and nut.
15. If you have one of the exhaust pipes that have a
360 degree loop it needs to be wrapped with heat wrap.
16. Make sure you have a working
catch can on you kart.
17. If your side panels do not have a rolled or
radiused inward facing edge you must have some form of protective edging along the edge to protect the driver from injury.

CHAMP KARTS ONLY

18. The seat on the Champ Karts must be to 6 inches from the inside of the left nerf bar. (all of the seat)
19. All seat belt attachment bolts must be
cotter keyed or safety wired.
20. Junior Sportsman Champ Karts must have a 12" x 12" clear Plexglass-type windshield.
21. Make sure your champ side panels have no more than than a
1" upper lip.
22. Make sure your Champ Kart is tagged with a manufacturer tag ( M-Tag or E-TAG)

If you have all these things done and make sure your karts is in safe working order you should not have any trouble with Pre-Tech and speed it up for everyone else
