TECH TOOL

I have had a lot of E-mail lately with the question "I just got a set of tech tool and need to know how to use them and where they are used". I am going to try to put together a set of pictures and a brief description of how and where they are used.

DO NOT FORCE ANY OF THE NO-GO'S!!!! THE WEIGHT OF THE NO-GO SHOULD BE ALL THE PRESSURE APPLIED

CARBURETOR

This no-go is used with the washer to check the venturi a stock carburetor, and without the washer to check the bore at the front of carb.. The washer is used to center the no-go in the venturi of the carburetor.

This no-go is used to check the air horn in a stock carburetor, it cannot enters the machined part of the carburetor or go below breather hole (some carbs have a hole that is used to connect a breather tube at this area of the airhorn). Also it cannot enter the air horn when checked by pulling up from the bottom of the air horn.

These are used for checking the holes that are under the jet on a stock carburetor. The .062" is used for the main metering hole and the .028" is used for the idle metering hole. Be careful that no force is used to push the no-go through the hole sometimes this is a very close fit.

This gauge is used to check the depth of the recess at the flange end of the carb. It should not enter pass the flange of the carb. when lined up with the top casting ridge of the carburetor.

This tool is used to check and see if the throttle shaft position has been altered. It goes in the hole in the body of the carb where the throttle shaft goes and the large part fits into the recess in the body. It should slide into the recess if not check to see if the location of the hole in the body has been moved.

This tool along with a depth gauge is used to check the machined recess on the backside of the throttle shaft.

This tool is used to check the air filter adapter. You set the adapter down on it (like the adapter fits on the carb.) and then measure from the top of the adapter to the flat part of the tool with a depth gauge.

This plug gauge is not a no-go it is a tool used to check the eyebrow area where the air horn and venturi meet. You slip this gauge into the back of the carburetor and then you look and see if you can see any light or gap between the gauge and the carb in that area. If you see light or gap then check to see if that area has been modified.

This no-go is used to check the hole in the small pickup tube. It can start into the tube but cannot pass all the way through it.

This no-go is used to check the bore of a Controlled Stock carburetor. It should not start into the bore from the flange end of the carb..

This go-no-go is used to check the Super Stock, Super Controlled Stock, Limited Modified and Star Tillotson carburetor. The .850" must go into the carb all the way to the butterfly. The .900" must not start into the bore.

These two no-go's are to check restrictor plates.
